Wish I could say the same for the rest of the car lol the car really hasn't been driven much at all since I put the motor back in. Still needs a few things to be street legal again and then hopefully it will be my summer daily again.

SE MI.

Nothing but rain and cold here

It's a summer only ride and I don't drive it unless it's warmer than 60degrees and sunny out.

We have snow today. Miniature snowball sized flakes too. Hail and rain yesterday. And it was sunny in the 60's Wednesday.

Working going on today. 8.8 Rearend swap, creative steel cradle bushing, mighty mouse shock spacers, ground control coil over kit and a set of hotchkis swaybars.

May even yank the trans out real quick and install the creative steel brass shift pivot and stabilizer bushings.

Replaced my exhaust gaskets today. Helpful tip, cut the bolt holes on the end like pictured. It makes swapping gaskets in the future a snap because now you don't have to pull all the bolts and then try to get the gasket in and a bolt started at the same time. The gasket just slides in and rest on the 2 bolts on the end and you throw the rest in and tighten down.

Nice. Old school header tip. Get them in place with the end bolts and drop the gaskets in last. Avoids dings and snags trying to align stuff and start bolts. I never considered that it would help swap them out later.

Good idea. Alternate thought: get the
Fel-Pro MS92467 gaskets Fel-Pro MS92467 gaskets
that cost a mere 15 cents more, and are better, thicker, and have the slotted bolt holes already.

Felpro is my go to gasket for anything but the LS motors lol well almost. My headgaskets are Felpro. I really like the MLS design of the gm gasket and they really have given me no issues. The only reason these leaked was because I reused them like 5 times now haha I've used that style of gaskets in past turbo cars and never had much luck with them.

Re epoxied the end brackets back on my rockers. Car had some stupid big wheels on it when she came to me and the wheels obviously had touched.........

Fwiw if anyone else has loose fitting push rivets where the wheel well liner meets the front bumper, 10mm push rivets are a better fit.

So much for the epoxy. Worked on the front but not the rear. Gonna paint a couple push rivets to match the body color but honesty it's in the wheel well.

Changed my tranny fluid...again. I put in Amsoil OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid about 700 miles ago and last week shifting from 3rd to 4th became difficult. I went ahead and swapped it out with GM Manual Transmission Fluid PN - 88861800 (which is supposedly rebranded Dexron III-H) and it made a big difference for the better.

If using Amsoil, then you should definitely use the Torque-Drive as it specifically states Dexron III-H whereas the OE apparently just meets III.

Also noteworthy is that everything I've read states the capacity of the tranny as 7.4 pints, but both times I changed the fluid it almost took the full 4 quarts. I made sure the car was level both times...

Cleaned ground connectors to head, while bellhousing is away, but what a PITA to get to the bolt heads...

And bought new batterycableconnectorbolts, but wasn´t the same diameter in the back of the screws to clip on the security caps, so stay away from this yellow product:

Will make a new pair next time to the right specs...

Got it back from the shop. Had it in for brake pads and rotor install (pins were stuck in calipers, I quit pretty quickly) and state inspection. All ready for summer.

Dropped it at Lindsay Cadillac to let Robert, the V tech, take a look at the driveline vibration, just to make sure I haven't missed something in my own troubleshooting.

Today was some basic maintenance and swapping out my winter wheels and tires for a stock set I had recoated recently. In all, did an oil change (AmsOil), replaced vacuum lines (they were hard as rocks, new GM red plug wires, new valve cover gaskets, flushed the clutch fluid, and put on the new wheels. Subtle color change to Porsche "Hyper Silver" like on the new 911 GT3. Waiting on my some rebuilt calipers to come in from the exchange program on here, those are coated in a high gloss copper. Should look cool, I hope!

Biggest shock was how clean the valve covers were inside. The engine has 180k and they're not even varnished. I have never seen anything like that on any engine I've worked on, let alone with that many miles.
