I was also researching aluminum driveshafts, weirdly enough, and looks like some guys aftermarket shifters were having clearance issues with the one piece designs like this?

i am the owner of this car now, FYI.
apparently the hurst shifter has a ton of clearance for everything on the bottom side. i've yet to actually prove that. i do want to go to a solid drive shaft sometime soon because my center carrier bearing is making noise fairly often now and it's really annoying.
