it's a canyon carver/road course car, not a drag car.

you'll spend more money trying to make it something it's not than enhancing it's strong points.

Thanks for all the insight guys. Well I think I have decided to sell the car and get into something a little more mod friendly. I already got a few trade in quotes from dealers and will most likely be trading it in as soon as there is something on the lot that matches my option requests. If anyone is interested in buying a bone stock 07 with 32k miles before I trade it in, let me know. Car even has a GM warranty with it.

Keep it, daily drive it and fall in love with it. Separate yourself from those obsessed with dig races on the street. I don't spend a lot of time stopped in my V and when I'm moving it's awesome.

its just hard to swallow to do H/C and a rear and get beat by a 25k mustang with a tune tires and intake
im pretty positive with those mods you would be able to beat a 25k mustang with tune, intake and tires

Yeah I'm not sure I understand this thread. Why buy a car if you don't understand or like its purpose? And why the most expensive version of it you can find? An 07 CTS-V? By accident?

This. Plus being able to cram your friends or fam into a ridiculously fast car. With 4 doors...

That's why I bought a 2014 1LE instead of the first gen CTS-V I was looking at

I'm still toying with the idea of buying a 2014 C7 vette this year but I'm still keeping the V1 - the appeal of the V1 hasn't wore off yet.

I am not trying to argue with anyone, I am just trying to figure out whats best for my needs.

I love the looks and handling of the V1, hence why I bought it. I just need something a bit more mod friendly

OP, sounds like you bought the wrong car. Our V1 makes for a GREAT DD / entertaining family car.

Its not a drag car, its not an autox car, and I doubt relative to other cars it would be a great road racing car. It is great at what it does for the price, which is be a family hauler thats not horribly slow and uninspiring.

Nonsense the V makes a great autox car, I ran mine boatloads of times and it was awesome. Only ran 1.5 seconds behind my buddies lotus, and that was on crappy tires with only KW's and hotchkis sways; no poly bushings or spherical rsm's.

Those Mustangs HOOK and GO from a stop but from a roll the V is right with them. I slightly edged that 'Stang out in trap speed and I ran with 70lbs of sub and other junk in the car. If DIG races is what you're all about, the V1 will never compete with what those cars are capable of.

On top of that I fit 4 ladies in the backseat this weekend and all of them were getting all kinds of excited back there on the trip to the bars downtown!

Here's how my exhaust/mail order tune only car does in roll speed as a reference. You can compare it to other cars you're considering as a reference. (note: my speedo is 4mph slower than actual speed on highway)

Figure out what you want to do with the car and go from there. Set a goal and go for it.

If you want a 10sec 1/4 mile car, you probably bought the wrong car. If you wanted something that you could drive every day, have some fun with at your local auto-x to improve your driving skills, haul some friends around from time to time and then take the same car to an HPDE/open track day then you got the right one. It honestly blows my mind the amount of people that have these cars and then complain that it blows the eff up on the drag strip with the stock diff and lack of supporting mods. Just because it has an LSx/6spd doesn't make it a rocketship. Its a 4000lb sedan that had a big *** V8 crammed in an midsized comfort based platform.

Many people on here have already shared the sentiment I would share. Its not a Camaro, Mustang, Vette like you see all over the place. I get more compliments on this car with just a mild exhaust, some tint and blacked out grilles than I did in a track day prepped M3. Its an average platform for about all builds. But EVERY car you get into is going to have its own quirks. I wanted something I could take clients to lunch in and run an occasional HPDE/Auto-X in while I build/buy what will become the dedicated track car so it fits that bill perfectly.

Here's your ten second v1, it's definitely doable...(note the narrowed factory front wheels, killer)

I doubt that. Looks like it has a G-force 9" under there. As proof of the not solid axle I can still see the V1 lower control arm in there with the huge spring perch.
