Default Motor build has begun, having second thoughts

Long story short, ls6 lost 2 pistons. Had a 227/235 114 cam, 226cc ai heads, kooks longtubes, btr springs and pushrods, ls7 clutch etc etc. had planned on building a 6.0 block and jumping to a 408 stroker. However, the more as more research I do the more it all adds up in fuel, air and driveline. The motor money isn't the issue, but ima curious what all else is gonna crap out when it gets the new found power. Car is a 05 v with stock axles/diff, stock trans with ls7 clutch and dual mass still. Also would have to change to a walbro pump, new rails, tb, injectors etc etc etc. guess my queston is if I do the 408, will I be going thru the tranny, clutchs and rearends or will the hold the power? Or should I just leave my ls6 stock stroke, throw some wiseco pistonson Callie's rods with a larger cam and call it good? Ran decent before, clutch felt awesome, didn't have no complaints but wouldn't mind more power, just dnt want to end up like I did in the diesel scene with 30k in performance parts and still not be happy nor a reliable car anymore. Ideas?

Well, first thing is whats its intended use? If its a street car you roll race with it should live for quite a while. The stock trans and ls7 clutch will be fine. The fuel system besides injectors will be fine. I made 500rwhp on a bone stock fuel system on nitrous so the pump will support it. You will want a FAST intake though with a 408.

Personally id find an aluminum block and do a 370, keep everything you have like the heads/cam/ls6 intake and then throw spray at it later or boost(pick your compression ratio with that in mind). It might not make much more power right now but itll be ready for it and you said you were happy before.

Cars is purely a street car, no hard launches just rolls. Talked with Brian at btr a few times and he's a firm believer in the ls2s. I like that my power will come in sooner with the 6.0, prolly just end up doing a iron block as I can't find aluminum besides new thru dealer. 60-65lbs I'm not sweating, already heavy anyhow. I wanted to boost my ls6 but can't justify 6-7k for boost when I have no intentions of competing with this car, just a play toy. I'm definitely changing cams to a slightly bigger cam that Brian's gonna get me, keeping my heads and will more then likely do the fast intake kit with either motor if ima leave it na. Don't trust funny gas enough for my liking. Also gonna ditch the dual mass and go to the z06 flywheel. Can't justify building my 5.7 when I can build the 6.0 for 550 bucks more... I just know if its like the diesel scene at ls fest, after my first few losses ill have an itch to make more power.

i did the exact same thing, jumped from an ls6 to a 408.

547 rwhp through an ls7 clutch, then into the stock diff.

i'm good with it.

I'd be good with them numbers! Walbro pump needed u think? What size injectors u running? Thx

I see the 60lbs overlooked it at first. It run pretty good compared to your ls6 or would u not go thru it all again?
