there's lot of guys that like a loud car. i just don't dig my personal car being super loud all the time. there's no point to it.

i am most likely going to switch to a full borla catback in the future to get it to where i want it.

I have 1 7/8 goin into 3" collector into Cats then into oval pipes equivalent to 3". I created a new exhaust using the oval pipe and at the end i installed vacuum operated actuators. i drilled enough holes through the blades to mimic a 1 1/2" dia. It will then be reduced to a 2.5" round pipe and expelled from the back. This way i have 3" for the super hot gases, then reduce it to 2.5" to help the coolin air accelerate out the back.

When the rpm is below 1000 rpm both actuators will be closed, once i get above 1250rpm the drivers side will open and the passenger side will remain closed till 2500-3000rpm. after which it will open and i will gain the full potential for my exhaust.

I also got ceramic fiber wool to replace the stainless wool for weight and sound reduction

I have pacesetter Lt's with magnaflow and X pipe, no cats. I'm personally ashamed of my exhaust and how loud it is. Seems extreme but I'm toying with the idea of fitting 4 small bullet mufflers into the system to quiet it down some.

Reason being, a few years back I rode in a friend's 2006 e55 amg and although my car now will likely mop the floor with it, it "felt" faster because of how quiet it was.

I'm sure I'm the minority on this but I want my car to be a total sleeper until I wood it and the maggie blows my cover.

Hmm, I've always felt that loud cars feel faster. If you think Magnaflow with LTs is loud, try getting a cam

I use to have a GTO where i had JBA headers, JBA midpipes and corsa cat-back.

I loved the note, it felt great on short trips. But i got bored of it. I installed a resonator and it helped a little. i swapped back in the stock catback and it was if i fell in love with my car again. Quiet, no drone, and it felt quicker too.

No dyno numbers, for i rolled it soon after.

Got the V installed stainless 3" exhaust, sounded like a mean Nascar. Was terrorising the whole city with it. Had ear problems every night till i swapped the exhaust for a custom corsa blend.

Wasnt as quiet as stock, but not as loud as stainless...

I dont blame you for going quieter, just make sure you stay away from magnaflow, they are always louder then need to be...

From what I have read, the stock catback flows rather well. I don't care if I'm missing out on an extra 4-7 horsepower. I just don't want a loud daily driver Caddy, so my catback will remain stock.

i am okay with a little volume, but having that raspy, straight piped, chevy pickup truck sounding exhaust i exactly what i don't want. straight piped vehicles are for teenagers and the deaf.

I agree with you Bio. Maybe it's because I have high-flow cats but my header/magnaflow system sounds great and is not raspy or loud (unless you want it to be).

i have a distributor near me that can pick up a borla catback for cheaper than anywhere else. although it's still going to cost me over $1000 for a catback (ouch), i am fairly sure i'll be more than satisfied with the results.

I still have mufflers if you'd want to have someone weld them up for you. I cut the hangers and the small section of pipe off to use on my new mufflers, but other than that still good.

it'd be temping if i could somehow source the rest of the exhaust, but that doesn't seem very possible.

It drones because the PO never did the proper sound deadening in the spare tire well, trunk floor and under the rear seat. I'd look into doing a layer of Damplifier Pro and MLV in those areas or else almost any exhaust for the V1, minus the Corsa depending on who you talk to, will drone at some resonant frequency.

I have kooks, no cats, corsa. In the video below you can hear the car rev at about the 1:52 mark, and you can hear the acceleration at 2:26. Corsa is quiet in low rpm, has no drone, and isn't loud until you really get on it.
