Default Carbon Fiber intake tube?

Is there a carbon fiber intake tube that will work with the factory air box? I'm thinking of replacing the tube and gutting the box. I have had enough CAI's and I know that they really don't make a $200-300 difference in HP. I also know Specter and Airaid make kits you can piece one together. I would like for it to look clean and neat so I don't want to buy one of those kits.

3.5" intake tube cut to fit, you can use a silicon elbow at the throttle body it will need to be 4" at one end and 3.5" at the other.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that's for an LS2, LS6's have smaller throttle bodies I'm pretty sure. Measure yours to come up with the elbow measurement.

Here's what mine looks like, I wasn't the first. Others have posted more detailed instructions but you get the idea.

Looks good where did you get the parts? Did you modify the air box?

I bought mine on EBay, I don't see any listed at the moment though.

I bought the silicone from siliconeintakes.com, the tube came from EBay. Factory air box.

Would a 4" intake tube fit? Or does it have to be 3.5" ? (With or without stock air box)

3.5" seems to be the consensus pick, a few have used 4" but it is definitely pushing it. Clearance near the bolt for the radiator fan and also the power steering pulley will be very tight.

I have been corresponding with Chris from LMI and he said he can mold a tube for $750. If I get him the specs one its possible that one of the tubes he already makes might work. I am not sure if their made from carbon fiber but they look good in the pictures. I'm guessing, but a Charger SRT8 tube might work if it was cut down. I'm not going to be by my car for the next few days. Does anyone has some specs I can send them to him? I'm guessing 90 degree angle and 3.5" dia.? I need the lengths and a picture and I can run it past him if anyone interested.

Question

What length tubes are you guys using? Having trouble finding the tube here, too. Silicone-intakes.com has good prices on the silicone though.

You're going to pay $750 for a carbon intake tube? It better drive the car for that price.

No that's insane. He said he could make me one for that price. But its possible one of the ones he makes can work. I just need the dimensions. My previous DD was an SRT8 charger and Im guessing that one could be trimmed down to work because it was basically set up the same way under the hood. If not I will just go the same route as the pictures above.

If you search around the forums, someone was selling tubes for cheap. I don't remember if they were real carbon or just wrapped. But it doesn't matter anyways. You just want a straight solid piece.
