Default Carbon shaft install need help.

So I get my shaft, no instructions, measure it up and it comes in a full 2 inches shorter than the factory shaft.

I was expecting some sort of adapter for the transmission end of the shaft to compensate for the fact that the cv has 6 bolts and the tail shaft only has 3 because there's no way you're going to tell me to only use 3 bolts and mate the cv right up to the tail shaft because that would leave the cv exposed to the elements as well

I can't believe that this $1400 driveshaft would require the use of a 10 cent guibo but as it sits right now, that's the only way this pos is going together.

Someone please tell me I'm missing an adapter of some sort.

I'm pretty sure it should have an aluminum disk that bolts to the trans and bolts to the CV.

For now I am. DSS said they could make a spacer to adapt the shorter factory length shaft to the longer length needed for the 8.8 by making another adapter.

I have an adapters on both ends of the drive shaft. I mounted both of those under the car with loctite and a proper torque pattern, threw the drive shaft on my chest and put it up in there.

Stock getrag here. (fingers crossed)

Do you have a carbon fiber DSS one piece?

You dont have two adapters? I understand no u joint but I have two adapters. The 'U-joint' adapter is on the transmission side but it has six bolts for the CV to mate into it, not 3 for a u joint. I hope this info helps.

Not to my knowledge haha, but I did the best I could indexing the tranny to the diff. and tightening all the bolts in a ideal torque pattern (star). I honestly don't get any crazy vibrations. I do get some cabin resonance when I the transmission is more loaded up and I stomp it. But its nothing bad, I also am running some non stock motor and trans mounts.

Anything upwards of 100mph seems fine to me, but maybe Im not picky.

Nice that you are going to DSS tomorrow, figure out this once and for all.

yea, mine is for an 8.8 so it has a u joint at the diff but the transmission side I have about a 1.5 inch aluminum spacer which bolts directly to the output shaft of the transmission that the cv then bolts to

Per a conversation with Frank at DSS, both adapters should have been balanced with the shaft and indexed accordingly using a paint pin. As the adapters didn't come with my shaft, it's doubtful they were balanced together so he has offered to rebalance the shaft while I wait....

What year is the car? What motor is in the car? What trans is in the car? What option level is the car? Does it have a sunroof? Ok, here is the correct wiper blade.

Mine was marked as he described, my problem has been trying to index a new driveshaft to a new rear end..... been chasing a high speed vibration and now my radiator broke so I'm waiting on my Ron Davis to show up so I can continue working on it...
