Chasing more vibrations

Chasing more vibrations
So went through hell when I bought my v, subframe dropped. Wheels where junk. Has lots of vibration issues.
Now I have everything fixed and I'm back on stock wheels and new tires but I have a vibration around 75-80. I know the lip of one of the rear tires is slightly bent(visibly so) would this be enough to cause my issue? I can't see it being just front end because the entire car shakes, you can feel a little bit of it in the steering wheel but the majority under your *** like it's coming from further back. Is this a normal symptom of the drive shaft carrier bearing or am I underestimating the wheels?

A bent lip on your rim could certainly do it. Did you have the wheels and tire dynamically/road force balanced? You need to do this, if you haven't. Actually, first, are you certain the lug nuts were torqued properly? You could always rotate the tires and see if the vibe moves/changes. If it does, you know tire/wheel is at least part of the issue.

If the center support is sagging (most probable cause of vibration), a rebalance won't likely do much for the vibes. If you get under the car and see some sagging in the center mount, that's what needs attention. Voodoochicken is the only one I know of that's remedied the stock driveshaft and at a reasonable price. Otherwise, the options are to replace the whole thing.

Shoot a pic of that bent lip. It could be enough to cause a road force problem under load (by loading up the sidewall) but not coasting. Easy to rotate the tires and see if the vibe changes/moves rear to front. I'd seriously do that first. If it doesn't change, then I think you're going after the shaft is a good a guess as any for the next step. That's a cheap thing to do to rule it out...

It always has a little constant vibration on the highway at anything 50+ and above but I contributed that to the creative steel motor mounts. The wheel as the culprit would make more sense if I have miss placed the source of the vibration. Went ahead and ordered the drive shaft support anyway. Taking the car on a two week road trip end of the month so it's gotta be worked out. If I can get away with waiting on the support great, if not I will already have everything in place to get it put in.

If the DS support is saggy, it needs replacing so all good. That amount of bend is something you will feel, I'm confident, just like you are describing. You can take a good step isolating the source(s) by rotating. If you rotate and then your steering wheel wobbles or gets worse, then you confirmed it. If nothing changes, then you've eliminated it as a major issue.

Lol sweet! Would much rather send you guys the shaft but I can't afford the down time currently. If I can get by till the fall I will hold off on it and ship it to you with the parts, but I have a lotta miles to log the next two months and it's too damn hot to be driving a car with no a/c.........
The wheel is still my hope, it's a pretty decent bend the more I look at it so fingers crossed. my wife is on the verge of killing me for messing with the caddy so if I can put the drive shaft off for a while that would be very nice!

I've had wheels that are that bent straightened before. Takes a couple days usually. Ask around at tire shops who they send bent rims to and see what they can do for you.
That much bend could definitely be letting in a vibration as the weight is applied to that spot during tire rotation.

Finally got around to doing some recon. Took the car to the tire shop and pulled all the wheels. Two had flat spots so the worse one went on the back and did a rebalance. This got rid of 70% or my vibration issue. Stopped by the rim shop on the way home and they are both save able. I'm never going to auto-x this car so I will have it knocked out when i get back. The tire shop about had a stroke when I told them I was just going to have them fixed..... Hopefully I can hold off on the drive shaft until I ditch the clutch this winter!
