Default 9.25 @ 154 mph! Re-set M6 Record!!!

Made some really solid passes yesterday at MIR. Was able to ramp some more power in and improve my 60' as well.

Best of the day ended up with a 9.25 @ 154mph. Ran in the mid 1.4x 60' range all day and made 5-6 passes north of 150mph.
Backed up by a 9.31 @ 155mph, making it the quickest and fastest M6 CTS-V. Also cracked the top 10 overall CTS-V which I thought was pretty cool as well for a manual V1 car!

Mercier, hahahaha! I've actually decided I'm not running it again until I have adequate safety equipment. Doing this, at this stage, without a cage isn't something I want to continue doing. Especially considering I want to crank the boost up quite a bit more next time. 8s is a stretch, but we'll see what next year brings!

Wheel/Tire combo:
15x9 Rear Welds with 28x10.5x15 Hoosier Slick
17" front Weld Skinnies with a 26x4.5x17 M&H drag front

Best thing to do is to get the rear camaro 15" brake conversion kit from Carlyle. Mine are far more custom because no one was making stuff to bolt on at the time. The juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze now that you can just buy the stuff

Thanks man!!!

When I got this car I was told a V1 could never see deeper than 11.5-ish, and even that was going to be nearly impossible. The widely held belief across the board is these cars couldn't get it done. It DOES take some work, but it can be done!

Congratulations! Can you share with us mere mortals what made the most difference in your setup? I assume it is suspension related to get this thing to hookup this well (given the trouble others seem to have had - although going to a turboed 5.3L engine running corn probably had quite a bit to do with it as well ).

Definitely. This is a very simple setup when it comes to suspension. The only non-stock part in the suspension is rear Ground Control Coilover sleeves and 700lb rear springs. Otherwise the shocks are stock and front is 100% stock except swaybar removal.

As far as what makes the most difference... hmmm. I'd have to say the Creative Steel Rear end and DSS axles. I say this because without an upgraded rear end, you wont be launching one of these cars on a sticky track and tire for long.

Following that, the cradle bushings are critical that they be upgraded. Then it's about getting a sticky tire under the car. The softer the sidewall, the better. I always tell guys who are trying to take the drag route to 5-lug and use V2 fitment rear 17" drag wheels because this opens up your tire selection QUITE a bit. I talk to a few guys on Facebook who have taken that advice, put their own spin on suspension setup and are running DEEP 1.5 60's on basic setups in V1s. Pretty impressive if you ask me!

Once you have those things in place, having a clutch to hold up to the abuse is important.

Once you have those key items in place, you can treat these like just about any other LS car out there and throw whatever you want at it!!! I know that sounds like a lot, but consider that these cars can be had for under $9000 in a lot of cases and it becomes a pretty fun platform to play with.

Actually that is better news than I thought I might hear. "soft sidewall" is likely a large issue for most. Tough to find a nice drag slick in an 18" size. Even if you do, which I haven't, the larger diameter wheel is going to effectively stiffen the sidewall. So us 6 lug guys are stuck with 18" drag radials which are a stiffer sidewall as well. Time to checkout the five lug conversion.

No ****, when we went 11.2 a few years back, we were ecstatic.

Actually, the 17" Welds, I believe will fit as the barrel of the wheel is true all the way across instead of stepping down to a smaller size. It's not much but I guess a 1/2" of sidewall is still more. lol

1.4x 60 foots with an IRS is very impressive. Especially from a four door tank. Lol. Inspired build. Congrats on the awesome times.
