I'm guessing he has 2x margin on that order. The V1 is 16.5' long, 6' wide, and 5' high.

A square box measuring 12'x6'x3' would require 84' of tube.

Pretty sure a full tube chassis and roll cage would eat up a good bit more tube than a box that fits inside.

Admit I didn't do a sketch and the back of napkin calculation. But yeah it's gonna be more than a box I hope.

Of course it will. I think, conservatively, he'll double the amount of tubing as in my bounding box.

Given all the frame and chassis he removed, he's going to be adding a ton of bracing, including diagonals. I bet he uses 240 ft of it...

Tubing goes really quick when doing a complete car in it. The small floor piece I already made in the pics (eventho it's a basic floor, more will be added for seats and other support) took up already ~ 25-30ft of it. I'm hoping to not use more than 250, to have the rest incase of **** ups.

Since this has never been done before, can't really go off anything. Just been looking at nascar, pro-mods, even rock crawlers and getting ideas. I've read the nhra and scca sections of roll cage building so I plan to make it legal for both.

Eventually I'd like to shoot for 8's 1/4, maybe even 7's if I can keep the weight below 2800lbs. It won't be an all out drag car though, I'd like to be able to turn in it and do some HPDE's and auto-X, while still being street legal and a crazy weekend car lol.

I don't have Autocad nor do I know how to use it, so I'm basically pre planning and trying to take everything into consideration before I do any cuts or bends on the tubing. Although I do have a basic design in my head of how I want it.

But yea, since literally ALL structural integrity was taken out of the car (I can move it wit 1 finger and it shakes back and forth pretty easy lol) I'll be doing a ton of diagonals and cross bracing, all while being crazy reinforced for not only safety but for complete rigidity. Hopefully the vibration of it all isn't too bad, snice it wont be riding like a new caddy.

Also got 8x tube sliding couplings, so I can remove the whole front end so I can change the clutch and whatever other maintenance I'll need to do in the future, so all that crazyness will be posted soon enough.

Obviously the addl 38ft is for the beer cooler center console and rocket launcher mounts. Figured I would throw in a couple of requests while we are still in design mode.

I'll add in the request for oil sprayers behind the rear bumper for tailgaters. Potentially linked to the catch can drain for efficiency.

I thought that the purpose of the stock diff was to explode and spray oil all over the road.

That's more of a party trick. I was thinking more along the lines of being chased by the Fratellis.

may i suggest trying out onshape.com it's a browser based autocad, (well 3d modeling software). the only downside to it is either your drafts/drawings are free to anyone searching, or you have to pay to keep them a secret.

Moving day!!! Who said you can't fit a car in a penske truck? Lol... 26ft long and managed to get my whole house and garage in there, loaded it up to the tip!

Figured I'd share since I'm excited that it worked and didnt need a flatbed or anything to tow it.

That's all for now, hopefully I'll get back on it, in about 2 weeks.

I'd have jacked that job up 734 different ways. There'd be pieces of Penske truck and V all over the the place.

Nice job.

Finally!!!! A damn update!!

Well Im finally pretty much settled in the new house so I can start working on this again. She's been sad sitting in the corner of the garage, being neglected.

Well, it wasn't much, but it's something. Got the main hoop and front A pillar bars done today and tacked in.

DISCLAIMER: I'm doing the basic cage first! Before I add supports and gussets, so please don't assume it's going to be this weak lol. Think of a nascar cage.

Oh and yes, I still have somewhat of a mess in the garage so I'm working in a small area lol. I'll clean it eventually.

Anyways, im not paying damn $300 to photo bucket to upload pics, so I'm try to upload here.

Yea luckily this site let's me upload them. I saved all my photos from photobucket, so they're safe. I think I'm going to upload all the previous pics here so anyone looking, can see them.
