Transmission noises out of my 2005 CTS-V
Glad to be a part of the family. I just picked up my Black 05 CTS-V last Tuesday and I have a question. I haven't owned a manual before but have driven them on and off, when you shift, if it isn't a perfect shift, can you hear anything from the rear end. It sounds like my transmission/ axle move and make a solid clanking noise. It is not bad and most people don't notice it but I haven't even driven it hard and want to know if this is normal. Thanks,
Gill

Congrats on the new V! Sounds like you have a twin to mine.
The noise you are referring to is normal for T-56 transmissions and the dual-mass flywheel amplifies the clunking sound. BMR is working on a solid propshaft to replace the rubber mounted stocker, supposedly reducing the noise.
For lots of good info and registry for the V, check out

I took my V in for service this morning with 1213 miles on it. There is a small leak in the transmission and it makes whining noise at about 45mph, especially in 4th gear. The caddy dealer said this is the third one they have seen do this. Not sure what their diagnosis will be but I will post it once I hear back.
