Default What’s a good clutch for these cars?

Car is lightly modded (exhaust and CAI) with lots of city driving. LS7?

The C6/LS7 clutch is a great option. I have no complaints with mine after 88k miles of mixed driving.

^^^^^^^What he said. You only need more if you are heavily modded. LS7 works well as daily driver in mine but as a performance clutch leaves something to be desired (slips under high load), The MacLeod RXT held much better but was a PIA in stop and go traffic (too much like an on and off switch). I also got slippage/noise at low RPMs when using their light weight aluminum flywheel. My next clutch will be the RST with a steel flywheel.

Budget is whatever it takes to have a good driver. Car has a Ram Stage 3 now and it doesn’t like to be slipped which we all know sucks in stop and go traffic. Does the LS7 require the flywheel that comes with the kits I’m seeing?

I believe the "kits" assume it's replacing a stock clutch. The stock V flywheel is a dual mass, which has a greater depth. To run a C6 clutch or compatible, you'll need to run a flywheel of the corvette dimensions and a corvette slave cylinder to ensure that everything aligns and works as it should. I'm not familiar with the Ram clutch you have, but if the OE flywheel has been replaced, you probably have something that would be compatible with the Corvette setup.

Was never a big ls7 clutch fan. Yes it works but it has its set backs. Have heard good things on the diamond clutches and cf dual frictions. However my monster single disc drives like stock without its setbacks.

LS7 is heavy, but a great clutch.
Monster seems to be the best, but with a pricetag to match.

I’ve been happy with the ls7 for 20k miles. Super reasonable and dropped huge weight over the dual mass stock setup.

I run an ACT T1S-G02 twin and it's awesome! Holds everything I throw at it, and has flawless traffic mannerisms.

The ls7 is an ok at best budget clutch. If you want something that is absolutely amazing step up to an ACT. I put 30k miles on a ls7 clutch I was never truly happy with.

The benefit of the ACT setup is oem hydraulics, slave and master can be sourced from centric brand cheap. Comes with a spacer in the kit and at 36 lbs rotating mass it drives perfect and rev matches flawlessly.

I know it's one of the cheaper options but very happy with my LS7 setup. Using the factory C6 flywheel. Manners are very good. Clutch pedal is even lighter than stock. I've had it setup for about 20k miles. I'm at 530rwhp now and it performs great. Overall it drops about 18lbs of weight.

My car came with a McLeod already installed. No complaints- no heavy pedal feel(was expected) and no chatter.

Do you know which one? Any dual with absolutely no chatter sounds like a unicorn (one that I would very much like to have installed in my car). I have heard really good things about the RST but I am looking for first hand feedback...

My Act T1SG02 has no chatter.

It's quieter than my LS7.

RST is a great clutch from 1st hand experience. Also loved my Southbend clutch. If racing I would go RXT but its more aggressive.

Just switched to an RXT to handle the power of the bigger blower. Before that though I had an Exedy GT04SD and it was the absolute best clutch I’ve ever driven. I wish I could have afforded to step up to the GT04XD.

Is the core still serviceable?

If so, shoot me a PM.

Monster Twin here. Grips like a hooker to a crack pipe, is super quiet, and I've had it for a few years and it's taken everything I can throw at it.

rst is the one I have and I love it more the more I drive it. Highly recommend. I've drove my buddy's mustang with the rxt and dont care for it nearly as much in a street car.
