The seals went bad on my original power steering rack a while back, so I grabbed a used rack and threw it in. I saved my old rack so I could install a seal kit since I don`t really want to buy a rebuilt rack and get stuck with the rack out of a regular CTS. I started pulling my rack apart and all of the hard parts are in great shape. However, I don`t know how the main rod/piston assembly comes out. With most racks there`s a retaining clip on the passenger side that will allow the seal to be removed and the piston assembly to slide out the passenger side. This does not seem to be the case on the cts-v rack. Do the aluminum ends unscrew from the steel center tube? Are they pressed in? The factory service manual does not seem to mention anything about disassembly of the rack.

Well the used rack that I had in the car started leaking, anyone else disassemble one yet? I went on the search for more info and found my old post from the last time I was looking.

Replaced mine with a lifetime warranty one from autozone
Needed to shim up the one side as it was binding
