Removal of screen at airbox outlet
At the outlet of the airbox there is a very dense metal screen, which is sandwiched between the airbox wall and what I think is the MAP sensor.
Has anyone removed this screen? Seems to me that it serves no purpose except sound attenuation.
As best I am able to tell from web literature neither More Performance, Lingenfelter nor Steath mention this.

The screen is there to straighten the airflow through the maf sensor. Do not remove it unless you have access to a dyno and someone thoroughly familiar with a pcm program editing program such as ls1 edit.

Yes, it's not for noise... it's to straighten the air out as it goes into the MAF... it may cause issues such as surging, throwing codes, etc.

This was the topic of CONSIDERABLE discussion by the Corvette community. The general concensus seemed to be to leave it alone. Some (little) performance gain, but also higher probability of "computer glitches."
