Default 05 GTO vs 05 CTS-V

Which one is ACTUALLY faster? They both claim 4.6 0-60, but motor trend seemed to get the CTS-V to go faster.

Any real world stories?

It's a driver's race every time. If either driver makes a mistake that could be the difference.

the times are due to the lower gearing of the CTS-V

From a reliability standpoint...the GTO's rear ends are holding up better though

Well, if you must know...I JUST GOT ONE!

Silver with light grey interior. The car is absolutely phenominal. At first, I just wanted it because it's fast as hell and has the z06 motor, but I am SHOCKED at how much more depth there really is to it. As long as my rear end doesn't blow, I think this will be one hell of a great car to own.

Well, a friend of mine has a supercharged miata that he claims beats everything, but got SPANKED by an '05 goat with a guy who sucked at driving stick. I just wanna put him in his place

That V is the first 6-speed car i've ever owned with over 220 hp, and to be honest, ITS BRUTAL! I need to be careful, because i am either going to end up in jail, or a body bag. You don't even feel like you're doing triple digits...

Please do! Get a Valentine or other "Fuzz buster"; take a driving school; race go carts; run a marathon; make love to your wife; or do something else, just take care of yourself and that car!!

Ben,

Velcome to the disease!!!!!

I also have a Platinum with the Platinum int., its very rare, count yourself lucky!

The V is the most amazing car I've ever owned, fun, powerful, secure and luxurious enough for this old hot rodder.

I know a guy who has pretty well fixed the hop issue, I'm very well connected with him. Its really a must for you to address that condition regardless of the route taken.

Enjoy your V, safely mind you, careful on the 2-3 shift, it has put more than 1 person off road.

Oh, and for your question, I think with a proper launch, the V wins.

That's because CTS-V owners are lauching the car too hard. It's not built for that. It's more built for let's say you cruising at 60 mph then punching. That's when you'll see the true power. The best thing to do with the V is peddle it off the line then floor it.

How come their is a 4 page thread about the GTOs rear end on ls2gto? Both of the rear ends suck for a 400hp car.
