I also just got myself an 05 V, and at low accelerator usage, i also hear a kind of a hum. especially noticeable in 4-6 gears. It goes away when i accelerate a bit harder though. Is this normal? Thanks

May be gear "whine" from the differential. It might go away as the gears wear-in together. If not, try changing diff fluid to Amsoil or Mobil 1 synthetic and add a bottle of GM limited slip additive. Changed mine (now have 8K miles) and no noise here!

I had the same problem with mine. It was most noticeable in 4th gear at 45-47mph. Dealer looked at it and told me the rear differencial needed to be replaced I only have 3000 miles on the car too.

Check the sticky on cadillacforums.com in the CTS-V section - a LOT of people have had their rear replaced.

Cadillacforums.com is a good place to research this topic. I'm one of the guys that had to have the rear dif replaced (at only 1700 miles). Mine did it after a few minutes of driving 35-50mph in 4th to 6th gears while acclerating slowing or cruising.

2500 miles a different noise is back. Sounds similar to above but only when warmed up after 30 minutes of driving. Doesn't sound near as bad as before but I will most likely change my fluid again.
