Now now Lawton , don't get your panties in an uproar. There's more to life than beating a four door family sedan.

the issue could be resolved with a kars kit and a set of dr'z.....
But them you'll have to much strain on the axles....
the V is a great car but stock a bit limited for drag strip abuse...I still love my "CTS-Vagina" though!!!

obZidian: Did you ever get to run yours at Morosso? What times did you get? I heard the 04s were over rated. Did GM do anything to bump up the 05s and 06s or are they all the same(04,05,06)? Are the 05s-06s any quicker?
EDIT: Looking for a local CTS-V with a power adder or 2 to run with my Impala SS. Stock ones just cant keep up.

Hey, they usually pick on me, pullng up along side of me on the freeway throwing revs. By the time I get thru with them, they are exiting with their tail between their legs wondering what that old fat guy had under the hood. I know some day I'll have my *** handed to me, now that more of the Vs are out there having work done to them, but until then, there is nothing like the feeling of killing a $50,000 car with my $15,000 Impala SS. for my understanding, TA Jack, there really aren't any differences between the times. they are all making about the same amount of power, including the new ls2 in the 06'...
They all run between a 13.1 (12.8 as shown here....) to a 13.7. But we all know that all it takes is a dedicated driver to achieve the best runs when it comes to manual trans. Im used to my 98 camaro with a 3600 stall to just stall and go. This is definitely a new experience, though this isnt my first manual car.
high 12's can be done, as it is shown in the thread, though the original member never returned to given us any further info on the subject.
I got a 408ci with a future direct (200-250), progressive shot that might wanta have a friendly run with your impala! Well, that is if we ever met!!

question... how is that not stock? I mean The car is... its just getting the power to the ground.... you know what i mean? well...actually i take that back, what was the suspension mod? I mean if it was only tires.. then i think that qualifies as stock... you know what i mean?

Well, basically, the argument can be seen both ways, depending which side of the spectrum your on.
The suspension mod is/was an anit-wheelhop bar and suppose to help get the traction needed to get those kinds of 60' times. From factory, the car is advertised to go 0-60 in 4.7 or "under 5 sec." However, the end product is practically unable to reproduce these marketing claims due to the inherent wheelhop. The bar, therefore is a fix to a defect from factor and imo, i dont see that as a "real" mod but more as a necessity. (spellcheck!) The tires, well, imo i dont constitute that as a mod but it should be mentioned when making these kinds of claims.
I dont see the car as being "modded" therefore to me, its a stock V with tires and a AWK. Now, you could run the car with/without the bar and make the difference you saw, if any, public; making the stock vs. non-stock issue less viable. It is all in how you word it and thats important when dealing with the internet crowd.
I dont know, there are a few things that i see that bug me. For example, i saw a run from a chrysler srt-8 300c and it clocked at 12.8. If you argue that this car (cts-V) isnt stock, than it is also, equally arguable that the 300c didn't go 12.8 stock because prior to running the owner had done somekind of "fuse" mod that reduces/eliminates the amount of torque management when driving aggressively. Therefore again wording and honesty is the only way to get your claims appreciated though still ther will be someone that will try to step on your glory!!
The mods and how its viewed is quite subjectible. Tires, i really dont see as a mod unless there slicks, though it should be mentioned. A AWK and a "fuse-mod" could be viewed as a mod but its more of a remedy for a manufacture defect/design or lack there of. However, it should also be mentioned since it helped achieve the times you are claiming....which in the 300c thread, i dont remember reading that the 300c was modded....
to each is own....no matter what, you ran the time so you should be proud, just be honest and remember where your running. E-town is known for record breaking runs while moroso is nick named moroslow.... that should also be addressed and weather conditions....

I have a feeling the car that was orinally posted about is from Maryland. I saw a black one down Capital Raceway on 11/xx/05 run almost these exact same numbers. A friend of mine from work was down there with the guy, and he said he had only bought the car a few weeks ago. If it's the same car, I SAW it run those numbers.
