I gotta admit, the real reason I bought the V was BECAUSE they stepped up to the plate and put a manual into a Caddy. That was really my deciding force. However, I do prefer automatics. My 86 Buick Grand National came with an automatic 4 speed, and I'd challenge anyone who has manual transmission'ed turbo six to match my ET's and acceleration with that car. The auto is maybe less "fun" to drive, but it sure is the quickest way to go between gears...even the expert powershifters out there would agree that auto's shift quicker. My Buick turbo-powered AC Cobra is also automatic, and my twin-turbo Buick powered FFR Spyder is as well. Wouldn't do it any other way as far as turbocharged engines go.
But that 6 speed manual Caddy...just can't get enough of it! I would give serious consideration to an automatic version of it though - at least now that I'd been there with the manual. Also worth noting, you'd have much less rear end problems in the V with an auto - which reduces the shock load of the gearset.

I personally dont think that you can compare the Chrysler 300C to a Cadillac CTS-V. While they both are 4 door sedans with a lot of power, Cadillac has a much more prestigious nameplate. it would be like comparing a Chevy to a BMW.
Just my $.02

psssh nameplate, caddy is just a part of GM. srt8 has 20in wheels, more HP then the cts-v and everyone thinks it looks like a bentley, you cant say that about the cts-v and its walmart looking mesh grill.

I dig the CTS V series grille. I think its among the best parts of the upgraded package. Its more of a sports sedan than the awesome 300C SRT/8.

Both great cars...

Just a very different focus.

The CTS is closer to a sports car ...Lighter weight, smaller size, Corvette motor and six speed manual.

The 300C srt/8 would make a better daily driver luxury sports sedan for those who don't want a manual tranny.

Thes CTS-V is manual only. They have the STS-V as the auto which has 440 hp so it's not a bad choice. Check fast-autos.net under "Cadillac" for more info.

+1, what people don't realize is there a demographic out there that would buy the car and increase sales. I know of two people off the top of my head. My friend who had LS1s he bought a CLK500 and his father who was a Caddy guy bought an Audi.

I won't consider a stick due to congestion, even though I love them.

I would however, buy a CST-V Auto.
