Question A Good Deal?

Procharged '04, black on black, 37K Miles.
'06 Diff
Corsa Exhaust & Headers
Diablo Sport (EMM?)
Eibachs
"19 HREs and KDs

All mods dealer installed - He even gave me the dealerships number and tech name.

$29K

What do you think?

Also, what would be your next mods? Short Shifter? BMR? What else?

Cheers

Question about that....

are most of these diffs going out during a hard launch? When I really get on the car it will be from a roll.

Wow, that is a nice deal. I'm looking at a slightly modded (Kooks/ Corsa) 04 25K mikes (with 100k warranty) for 30K, or a 05 stock with 44K, new diff 1500 miles ago for 26,500. What do you guys think? Both cars are mint.

That does sound like a good deal. You might want to find out if the half-shafts have been upgraded to the 06 version as well. They're only slightly larger, but every little bit will help when you're putting down that kind of power.

Shifter is a must-do mod and should definitely be next on the list.

And thanks for all the feedback

i can't speak for others, but yes, that's how mine ate ****.

however, the wheel hop is what's causing the problem and that can happen even if you roll on it. it'll just be a more gradual death (whining, then breaking) as opposed to jsut going BOOM

wow, easy on the caps there buddy.

i don't think it's necessarily fishy. i picked mine up with 24k miles for $28K. wheels/tires, suspension don't really hold that much aftermarket value. and the procharger *shrug*

perhaps the person just wanted to get out from under it. they've already had a diff go b/c it's got the 06 on there. maybe it's just some rich guys car and he got bored with it.

...or maybe it's about to essplode.

not necessarily. if it was repaired out of pocket or if a shop didn't record it, it may not show up.

i curbed the **** out of my 03 350z. about $8k of damage. ins fixed it. it never showed up on a carfax.

I've seen a few 04's in the $26500-$28000 range w/ 40k miles.. Probably the best time to buy used!

Does the BMR or like kits significantly improve the wheel hop? Like I said - I will rarely if ever be lauching the thing from a dead stop.

The whole Diff issue is the main reason I haven't jumped on a V yet. I don't have the cash to replace it every 6 months out of pocket.

Thanks for the input bro.

the anti-wheel hop will definitely help. "significantly" depends on your definition of the word yes, it will help it. no, it won't fix it.

i would just make sure to have a warranty (purchase an aftermarket one if necessary. it's worth it.)

there is currently one fix for the diff and it requires dumping a good amount of money into a new rearend. madman of houston makes a rear that's rated at 2000hp if i recall correctly for $7500 purchased, $10,000 installed, and a guy named doug out of ohio makes a rear that's less expensive ($6500 installed, he won't ship) and is rated at 600ft-lbs. (i'm using their numbers)

madman's info is on here. you can find doug's info at cadillacforums.com in the cts-v series section (it's in teh stickies)

again, that will completely erradicate the problem, but it's expensive. the cheapest alternative is to simply have an extended warranty on the vehicle and find a dealer that doesn't suck.

good luck.

Thanks for the replies - I read through the sticky on Madmans rear.

$10K

I was advised by my friend with a heavily modded Supra to have the dealership perform Compression and Cylinder Leakage Tests. He thought these tests would catch anything fishy with the engine.

Thoughts?

Doug at KARS extreme has a total solution for nearly half the price and it's not vaporware. Florian on the cadillacowners.com forum has his rear kit with 4.10:1 gears.

carfax blows I know from experience, plenty of people have cash to pay for repairs. No insurance involved = no history.
