Default Does your engine diesel after turning off?

I just bought this car a few weeks ago. It has 30k and is a 2005. I noticed when I test drove it, that it dieseled just for a seconded or two after turning it off. The guy I bought it from (one owner), said that it had always done that.

I just assumed that maybe its because of the high compression engine or something, but i found nothing about it through the searches.

Is this normal?

broken motor mounts. After I had mine replaced, when I turned it off it felt like a honda in comparison to before. I think I may have broken another though...

As everyone has said, it's definately motor mounts.

I'm on my 4th set

Here is a pic of one of them:

UUC has been working on upgraded urathene replacement Motor and Trans mounts, for a long while now. I'm scheduled to test them this week, through Lindsay Cadillac. As of now my appointment is this wednesday. The tranny mount is in, but they hadn't shipped the motor mounts as of Friday.

If the testing goes well, Lindsay indicated the would like to have these on sale by the end of the month. We'll see.

No one else has released replacement mounts for the CTS-V that I'm aware of. One of the "joy's" of owning a very low production car, I guess.

noob here~~.. happy to have found a forum on the Vs...
anyway, mine shimmys and shudders a bit after I turn the key off. I didnt think much of it, just thought thats what a 400hp high compression v8 would do when it is shut down. then saw this thread. should I get this checked out under warranty or is it normal? (only have 5 moths left- will start another thread on this) The added combustion after shutdown isn't abnormal to me considering the physics, but not sure why it must be that "rough" i.e., better mounts in a $51K 'caddy'.

1 month owned so far and many questions. will try not to flood the airwaves

The motor mounts are free with your warranty.

A broken motor mount lets the engine rock back and forth as it is coming to a stop when you turn it off. There is no added combustion.

I guess my question is can a motor mount really fail in 30K miles????... seems unlikely to me but I have never thought in V standards. Was just thinking about it when I shut down a few min ago. shudders too much on shutdown. It is nothing like what some have described here kike big tugg, but, still too much imo. Ill have the dealer ck it out since its free...
