Default 04 V Oil Temp. Warning Light

I've got an 04 V with 64K on it. Had it since september. About a month ago the oil temp warning light came on when I was idling in traffic. It was about 90 deg. outside. The samething happened yesterday, under similar conditions. I've heard the 04's are know for having faulty wiring to the oil temp sensor. My coolant temp has been very low but my oil temp has reached 300 or so then the light turns on. My guess is the temp sensor is probably screwed up. Any thoughts, cheap fixes or ideas?

Could be the grounds are going flakey.

These are located on the rear of the heads.

Try wire brushing the surface and a new star washer.

The passenger side is a PITA and you may want to remove the battery to get at it.

Last resort remove the windshield wiper facia and unit.

not hard to do though.

I took mine into the dealer they reflashed the cluster and added a new ground, oil temps are perfect now.
