Our stock seats weigh close to 90 lbs each, and the bolsters suck. Due to this I think a lot of owners have thought about swapping in new seats.
Now the down side:
1) Our OEM's have the side airbag mounted in the seat
2) @ss warmers. I don't know about you but I really like have my @ss nice and toasty in the winter
3) seat rail connections are not standard. This is not a huge deal, but you will have to fab up custom mounting brackets, that you'd want done right, so the seat doesn't disengage from the chasis. (whoops)
4) The oem seats have the seatbelts integrated in.
I think these are some big reasons why not many people have swapped. One option may be to try and retro fit the new Recarro optioned seats in from the '09 V into a genI. I'm sure they'd address the above issues (assuming they are direct bolt-in), but I bet they'd still be heavy.
