CTS 2.8 -> LSx swap
Hi everyone!
I'm buying a '08 CTS 2gen with 2.8 V8 and would like to know can I LS swap it without fabricating everything by myself (for example can I just buy an engine mounts and bolt them down onto the subframe OR V6 and V8 subframes are different).
There're no CTSVs in my area (or they cost like $25k comparing to $9k for the regular CTS with V6) and I have a freshly assembled ~400hp LS engine already.
I know that I'll have to change brakes, suspension parts etc. also but for now I'm wondering about their shells - front subframe, transmission tunnel etc.
It's not a problem to fabricate anything but it would be much easier and faster way to use OEM parts if they can fit
I'm thinking of LS with 4L80e.
It's a strange thing but I couldn't even google some CTSV pics related to the engine, tranny, brackets and so long...
P.S. - I'm pretty much sure that it'll be the first ever LS swapped CTS in Russia 😂

I’m pretty certain you will at least need the front subframe from a CTS-V. I researched doing an LS7 swap into a non-V CTS at one point in time and it was going to require a lot of V components just to swap in a V8.
Ultimately I ended up buying an 09 V and love it.
You should poke around https://www.ctsvowners.com for info as well.
