Default Shift linkage hitting driveshaft

Hi all just installed a cs tranny mount and now my shift linkage hits the drive shaft when I shift to forth. Please help what should I do? I have a custom shifter from azn2dmax. Help I'm lost at this point can I shim the shifter? If so where and how?

You can raise the shifter by about 1/8th inch.

See my procedure in the 8.8 clearance thread.

Right under this thread.

However:

You need a 10mm deep socket, flat blade screwdriver and a flashlight.

Remove the **** and boot.

Remove the plate that the shifter mounts to.

(4) 10 mm nuts and (2) 10 mm bolts.

Free the connector at the front by depressing the locking tab that holds the connector to the plate.

Remove the plate.

There are two rubber grommets that are retained in the plate and also by an insert that you remove via the flatblade (push slowly on the edge captured in the grommet).

All you want to do is re-position the grommets so they are on the top of the plate, not inserted into it.

Leave the retainer in its' original position underneath the plate and install the grommets on the top of the plate.

This will raise the shifter maybe 1/8", but will result in a much more solid mounting to the plate after you tighten the 10mm bolts (they will reach, just be patient and pull up on the shifter when re-installing the bolts).

So with heavy's setup it helped just not enough so I shimmed the shifter it self under the plate. Still needed more room so I shimmed the crossmember and all is well. I Hope that doesn't cause any issues.

PM 07CTS-V (PISNUOFF on CF). His shifter is better than the aftermarket big-name brands.

If the azn shifter makes the linkage hit, then any aftermarket shifter will most likely hit also. Something else may be worn out, pivot ball/ housing etc. Here is what I recommend, flip the pivot housing upside down so the relief is facing the bottom of the car. This will raise the ball about 3/16" upwards. If that doesn't work, you can make a plate/shim to raise the entire assembly. You will have to notch out the hold down plate.

Sorry I thought I chimed in before. I made an extra custom shifter for myself and made the throws extremely short so mine extends further than the custom ones I make and I don't hit. Crazy!!!

Like 07CTS-V said: if mine hits then any other aftermarket one will hit.

I hope we find out whats the culprit.

Maybe this can be the culprit:

When you install the bolts holding down the metal cup do you insert the two bolts from the top or bottom. It should be inserted from the top b/c if you do it from the bottom then more thread will stick out up top and will not let the shifter assembly "sit" together correctly.

Lower the trans at the crossmember. I made some 1/4 plates so my 8.8 driveshaft clears the shifter. I also added washers into the front mount of the 8.8 so the drive shaft aligns properly. The CS brackets kinda tilted the carrier up at the pinion. I fixed the issue by shiming everything into a strait line.
Now this is for the 8.8 but should work for u as well.

^^that lowers the trans. Install a spacer under the shifter ball and cup and modify the internal hold down plate inside the console or simply flipping the cup upside down may do the trick. It raises the shifter and linkage about 3/16". The grooved cutout in the nylon cup should be facing down to raise the shifter.
