Here is another view, car on the right, auto, race gas, trailered to the track. Even with it being forged it's been apart more than once. Doesn't matter if your forged or not-when you race-you always risk breaking.

Hey to further that though you don't really need to forge it to make some nice power. I've seen it first hand from eb02z06@ChampionMotors.
Just keep the detonation away by being smart with your timing and use a meth kit...
I wasn't necessarily thinking of going 408. Moreso just as a question because I recently saw some pretty bad-*** numbers from an old school big block motor and I wanted to see what our "new school" motors did in a stroked form.
For me, I'll go 346 forced induction first... if it blew up, then I'd rebuild what I could with what I had, but in forged parts so it'd be a little safer next time.
I'm working on two things before that will happen:
#1: I need to pay off my daily driver (Fall 2009)
#2: I'm getting an insurance company to insure the car as modified before I do it.

I think that is a good route! My plan will be similar if and when when my 6.0 lets go I will then forge the internals and punch it out to a 408, my 2.8L blower has capability to take it up to around 800hp and still be streetable, would probably install the next size cam and keep the off manifold twin screw configuration and go to the L92 heads. It will still be a "poor mans corvette". The off manifold twin screw has low IAT's and should be capable of 18-20lbs boost. Overspun of course, Good Luck!

when you are spending several thousand dollars on a motor the extra few hundred bucks for forged pistons and rods over new cast ones is cheap insurance.Even with a good tune on a fi motor as you know Arun weak fuel pressure or many other things can cause a lean condition and fry the motor

I understand that I was just pointing out with forged internals there is alot less chance of catastrophic failure

A lean condition will fry ANY motor, forged or not.
The LSX engines are just far superior to the LT1 setups and judging by your sig far from daily driver friendly-which is what Mat would like to build.
I mean with a 5200 stall, 14.1 CR, turbo 400 and a solid roller-that car is much happier on a trailer as it won't get too far on it's own legs.

I don't know many people who build a motor and put stock rods and pistons back in?

Maybe I will put a 150 shot on it this year and run a 9.6
why do you only think I am always talking about my car?
My car is far from I it could be

1 word, STREETABLE
Same word that Mat used in the topic
Doesn't matter how much of a shot you add it's still not STREETABLE, which is what the Mat is looking for.
2 C5's ran 9's with a stock short today, ECS has around 3 that have.
There's a newbie section near the top for people who are just getting familiar with LSx's

I'm using your car as an example but so far you haven't offered any proof to what you are saying.

Also, slanderous comments could end you or anyone who makes them in REAL hot water as you open the door for a multitude of nasty charges so its prudent to watch your step when posting on a public forum. This is a tech board so keep it about that for all our sakes please.

I dont know you or what your issues are and I dont care. Your posts speak for themselves and they ruin so many good threads in the Canadian section. If thats not bad enough your incessant whining is completely annoying so please do us a favor and stick to tech comments and drop the ignorant euphemisms they are not appreciated.

IMHO, you can make more STREETABLE power than a 408. Basically, even with a stock like cam. Here is a few examples:
Both of these cars ares tock bottom end 347's, LS6's which means they have the 02 Z06 cam-they drive like stock, get stock fuel economy, and will even pass an e-test.
Here are 2 stock 347's with a cam-the before and after is shown as well.
The LSX motors just love boost, when properly tuned with attention to the right bolt ons-alot of power can be made.

U are far from a quiet person. Every time u post in a thread that is not your camps u try to stir **** up. U have made more then your share on stupid remarks on LSFFA and on LS1tech. Now u try to come accross and ask questions as if u r inquiring for ppl in general. Stop trying to stir **** up u dead beat. Champion Motors is trying to get something going and right off the bat u r trying to stir **** up...u r not doing yourself or anyone else a favor by starting ****, so if u have nothing good to say just move onto another thread...

I agree, please keep personal grievences out of this. We Champion Motors are here to provide the best possible service to you the public. It's all about having fun with our cars and sometimes people forget this. A little friendly competition is good, but when it gets to serious and personal no one wins.
