Just a note, if someone is seriously hurt or killed while working in your garage, AND is implied to be due to negligence on your part. A judge can AND will toss out any waiver.

I know this because a group of us run a kids camp, and while we have rules and stipulations and waivers the parents sign, insurance also indicated to us while it "appears" legal, laws are still subject under common sense and legal interpretation. A waiver removing any and ALL liability is a joke in the court system.

My advice, test the people for shop knowledge and watch them like a hawk for the first few weeks. Also work on a partner system. An experienced mechanic with a new enthusiast. As long as you can also prove you did everything possible to prevent an accident, those waivers can help you.

Hylton,

basic rates are 10 /hr for a standard bay and 15 /hr for the hoist. 40/hr for the paint booth, all hand tools and air tools included, nominal charge for welder use and sandblast cabinet or room. we stock oil and filters and can pretty much get you stock replacement or order high performance aftermarket parts as well. feel free to give us a call at 519-945-9349

thanks!
taner

SladeX,

at least we don't have children working in the shop.

will those even cover the overheads? I mean the bill per month is gonna be pretty darn big when you have to replace the gas tanks, not to mention the energy for the lights and hoists, and the cost of maintenance. I can't see those rates putting you guys in the surplus. I think this is a great idea but the price should really be a bit higher, I would hate to see little costs here and there pile up and cause grief. I think that you guys definitly are on the right track. but i would over-estimate costs and under-estimate profits. better safe than sorry right. good luck guys

They've been open for a year now, so I guess they're doing better than most new businesses. I was there on the weekend for some new tires and a clutch. Great facilities!

The tools are electrified with a special device that will electricute someone if they attempt to remove them off premises.
