Sorry this has probably been asked 100 times before but what are typical horsepower/torque gains going from a stock ls1 intake to a decent carb setup that has a street tune? I'm also going to assume that a motor with a decent size cam and full exhaust such as mine would reap even more power?

The thing is, victor Jr intake flows more than a LS6, LS6, FAST 76 ect, so the power is there on the top end, the carb setups will make more peak power but some times less across the board when it comes to a larger FAST 102 i believe, we need more research and comparison to lock in such info, but there are exchanges, like a carb is cheaper, you do not have ot have a dyno tune, and if you go blow thru, you dont need a innercooler for a high single digit ride, unlike a EFI where you need one nearly any forced induction power level.

u need to throw my super victor on your car when u go dyno. see what kind of difference it makes. make for a good write up.
i would also like to see what your car picks up using a HVH type spacer with both intakes.

Really? Why is that? Does it have something to do with how the fuel is atomized in the plenum rather than the ends of the runners (total guess)?

I'm just curious because I have it in the back of my mind that I'd eventually like to go single turbo, but then I'll have to decide whether or not to stick with a carb and go blow through or go FI.

Exactly, the incoming air charge is cooled by the fuel from the carb, making the charge cooler eliminates the need for a IC on the street apps where heat is not a issue like the EFI setups.

I will be doing the single setup on my 86 TA and when i get to it, i will be posting as much info as i can for others to see, no two setups will be alike, but the info will help all of us get damn close when tuning and eliminate as much guessowrk as possible, it does however seem that the LS likes carbs set up different from our older SBC and BBC engines.

For sure, the swap would take no time at all and help accumulate info for this section, i will let you know when i get to the dyno time on my car, i need to see what it makes now, with your super vic, and then after with ported heads and more compression and then with your super vic. Will be good to have that info.

Cool, thanks. That makes sense...I just had never thought of that and/or noticed that most blow thru set ups weren't running coolers.
