Default Carb Spacer

How much of a gain is a spacer really worth? I am reading mixed reviews online, I figure since I am running an open port intake design, I should buy an open port spacer? Any advice?

My set up:

LQ9 408
12:1 Compression
L92 heads ported/polished/valve work
Victor Jr Intake ported to match heads
TSP 251/259 66x/66x/ 114+3
MSD Ignition (6010) thru truck coilpacks
Built TH350 w/ stall appropriate for nitrous
Nitrous at a later date.

All in a sub 2900lb notch mustang.

Increasing high end velocity usually helps, a thicker spacer would be key, the only way to tell is to run a couple back to back trials with and without, different setups respond differently.

I had dyno proven the difference tonight the difference of no spacer and the 2in. cnc'd HVH spacer. With out a doubt best money spent on the spacer low end power and tq increased for approx 3000rpm's by 30hp and 21tq to the wheels!

I use a 4 hole to help increase the carb signal in the lower rpms.

they are talking about a HVH Super sucker spacer. it is different than a basic open bore spacer and the hvh has been proven to work very well in most engines with long duration cams. stronger carb signal in low rpms
there are actually various versions of it. and even made from phenolic plastic material. can buy them at jegs, ebay, etc.

I would like to see those dyno sheets because that sounds like an incredible amount of increase. If this is in fact the case the manifold was way too small in the plenum to start. I would not expect these kind of gains on every engine. What is your engine/application?

I only printed off the final run but i can get the before spacer and after spacer runs tonight. The gains that it made were incredible really made a major difference under 4k as the rpms went up it the gain dropped off some to only a peak 4 hp gain but at the track all that extra power is what's needed in my set up.

I put an air raid spacer on a 92 chevy truck with throttle body and the torque was very noticable gain.

TBI is junk, the efforts you make are only noticed in torque, it sucks you cannot tune that stuff worth a damn.
