Default 4.8 or 6.0

I have a 1976 vega wagon sitting on an '87 s-10 blazer frame. I currently have a 4.8 out of a '99 truck and am wanting to go with a carb on it. I am running a 200-4r and a 8.8 rear with 3.73 gears. The car is going to be mainly a street car with the occasional pass down the drag strip. I was wanting to put a cam and springs in the 4.8 and run it. Also thought about a small shot of spray. I recently came across a 6.0 for a good deal and am wondering if I should go that way instead. I don't need a true drag car but would like to be in the mid to low 7s in the 1\8th mile at least. I thank you for any of your thoughts.

6.0 and dont look back man. The 4.8 can be rev happy, but the huge lack of torque will hold back the car with that 4.8. A 6.0 and bigger is really the way to go, they dont need much, a tiny cam or even a LS6 cam can get 7s in a light *** vega easily.

Thank you for your replies. I guess the better question would be what would it take to make either of these engines go into the low 7s in the 1\8th. What kind of cam and stall would I be looking at in the 4.8 to get this kind of performance. The car should be a finished weight of around 2600-2800 pounds with driver. If I can go this with a 3000 stall or less and get close to my goal without having to spray it then I would not mind reving the 4.8, if not then I will definitely go with the 6.0. Like I said it is mainly a street car and I want to drive it somewhat comfortably. Thank you for all the help.

I had a 60k mile 5.3 given to me and I still bought a 6.0. I just could not get passed the idea of doing all that work and not getting the most out of it. As far at 7s in the 1/8th with your 2600lb Vega. All a 6.0 will need is a good cam choice and she should rock n roll well into the 7s.
