Where did you guys mount your MSD 6010?

I'm trying to figure out where to mount my MSD 6010. It would be easiest to mount it on the inner fender well on the passenger side. But I would prefer to mount it under the dash for a cleaner installation and get the box away from the under hood heat. I had my digital 6 box for my SBC under the dash it it worked out well but it didn't have the huge connector on it like the 6010 does.
For those of you who but the box under the dash how big of a hole did you make in the firewall? Is there a pin extraction tool for that style of connector so I won't have to make such a huge hole in the firewall?
Let me know how you guys did it especially if you put it under the dash.
Thanks

I'm using the mount that puts it on the front of the intake. I'll be putting it under the cowl panel when I put the motor back in

That looks like a good spot, how did you get the wiring through the firewall? I test fitted mine there yesterday. It would fit there but I had ran the wire all the way accoss the passenger side and down a hole next to the fender and inside but it was just barely short. If I went through a hole in the firewall somewhere it would be perfect. I hate making huge holes in the firewall but I think I'm going to have to.

These boxes aren't sensitive to heat. You don't need to put it under the dash unless you are going for a cleaner look. Unlike the the old single coil ignitions these boxes aren't supplying coil current. All they supply is a 5V trigger signal to the coil, which then draws coil power straight from the harness. Less current through the box means less heat.
Best way to get the wires through the firewall is to depin the connector and push just the wires through. Not sure how easy that is to do since I have mine in the engine bay on the fender.
Another option is to start inside the passenger's compartment and push the engine side connectors through a hole. Should be a lot smaller hole that way.
Third option is to get a bulkhead connector and splice it into the harness. That would be slick.

I mounted mine on the inside under the dash, works great for me and allows for easy access to plug the laptop into it. As far as the connector through the firewall I drilled a 3/4" to 1" hole, can't remember off the top of my head, and used a Seals-it grommet from Summit to seal it off. The grommet is 3" in diameter so it will cover up a really big hole.
Here it is just mounted up with none of the wires ran yet.

You can see it in the lower right corner

Here's how it looks with the seals-it grommet

I got my 6010 mounted over the weekend. I put it under the dash and used a Seals-It grommet to get the harness through the firewall. I'm not sure I like the bulky way the harness is made but it will do for now. I may use a different covering for the wire later.
