crank sensor ?? I'm having crank trigger problems. I need to know if a crank trigger can work then not work, then work again? I've got the car running, then it quits. The tach drops to "0". Sometimes it will start, other times it won't. I get out and tug on the wiring then it will start. It will run great for a few minutes, then stall. Again it might re-start, other times I have move the crank sensor plug. Very intermittant.
I'm guessing it's the plug-in, the prongs not contacting. Trouble is I have to remove the exhaust and starter to get at it. So I just wanted to ask if the crank sensor either works or it doesn't?
I might just pull the old sensor clean it and bend the prongs on the conector.

There have been crank sensor issues, just as you describe. From what I have heard it was a problem in the 8.1l engine, but a few other engines had this issue also. The vehicle would shut off and after a minute or so, it would restart most of the time. I was told you can get an AC Delco sensor at Autozone for about $50. I would just replace the sensor and be done with it. The only other thing it could be is the wiring on harness side.
