That's pretty funny. The guy in your rear view just pulled off the road. LOL

Hey zone, do you have the full build specs on that motor? I plan on doing the 5.3 swap soon. What got me super interested in yours is the 7200 rpm

No build honestly, stock short block and I actually downgraded from the 243 heads to 317s off a 6.0, so compression took a hit but I did it for the boost that will be on later, stuffed in a used cam, new pushrods and used springs, put the induction on and dropped it in and let it rip. Nothing complex, stock with used parts besides pushrods.

Glad I seem to motivate so many people.

Are you running headers on that motor, or will they not fit like on an LS1?

I am running shorty headers that are designed for the 98-2002 CMARO/fIREBIRD, DIRECT FIT.

Would there be clearance for long tubes?

doing longtubes on these cars requires a swap header. hawksthirdgenparts.com offers a swap header. they are expensive so keep that in mind. 4th gen longtubes won't come anywhere near fitting correctly without extensive mods

Zone, this is great motivation!!! This past weekend I got my motor all buttoned up and started on the install. Ran into a few issues, with the trans adapt motor mounts, but nothing a plasma cutter and a welder couldn't take care of. What I am a bit concerned about is that my hawks 1 3/4" heeders are extreamly tight in there. pass side barely touching the frame rail and driver side on the brake lines (both w/o gaskets). my only idea so far is too chain fall the motor over a bit to keep from smashing the hedders. Did you have any fiitment issues with yours in the rs? or have any ideas for me? Love the videos too, I can't wait to get mine on the road!

I cannot give a fair comparison to the 89 RS, my swap mounts are straight up instead of 1 inch set backs so i gained a touch of header clearance on the Hawks pieces, but allot of people have very little room from what i see on TGO, but i did already have my break lines moved from the previous 383 swaps i had done which also required moving the lines.

Glad you like the vids man.

So having the whole setup farther foward in the engine bay helps a bit? If that is what it needed, than that is what will have to be done. I'm assuming you have a special trans crossmember in the rs? I already had to elongate the adjusting slot on mine just to bolt it up ( had less issues w/my cobbled up homade mount set last time). So heres another quick question for you, seeing as you have an ls m6 and ls a4. Which trans do you like better? I cant seem to decide which to go with, it's an a4 now but the m6 sounds like alot of fun....

the TA is a A3, honestly, the RS is a blast to drive with 6 gears and 4.30s in the back, but the TA with a 3 speed auto is cool since it is a manual valve body and there is no possibility to miss a gear, they are both fun, but i wish the TA had a 4 speed auto instead of 3.

I wish i went with 1 inch setbacks actually in the RS, but it was not available at the time for the 30$ i spent on the current pieces.
