Default Idle timing question...

Ok, here's my question.

I have a carb'd 383 LS1 in my jetboat. I have the idle-1000 rpm timing at 20* right now because if I try 14-16 like I think it should be, then it just flat won't idle.

Any suggestions?

I have 28-ish down around that rpm. Mine idles fine.

I have 20, but it seems you are possibly cracking the throttle open enough to get fuel because your idle set screws are not giving enough fuel to allow a lower RPM idle.

Right now, it idles at 700 rpm with 19* of timing. Any less and it's not pleased.
