Fuel Pump selction, Q-850 E85
Hey guys,
Im building a 370ci LSX with l92 heads, super vic l92 intake, and a quickfuel Q-850 E85 carburetor. Obviously i'll be running E-85, This set up should make around 550 Flywheel horsepower (will be going on an engine dyno) It is going into a 1991 Mustang Notchback. I'm now trying to figure out my fuel system as i am new to this carb stuff. Im going to be purchasing a Jegs brand 12 gallon fuel cell. I'm trying to find out what fuel pump and regulator i need, and if i need a return? I plan to put a fogger or plate nitrous set-up on the car in the future. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

I would run the Aeromotive red pump. I really like return style fuels systems cause the fuel is always circulating not deadheading. This keeps the fuel cooler, along with the pump and the pumps tend to last longer. I have used this red pump with a 750 hp 421ci sbc all motor street car that has a pro stystems sv1 carb on it and you can drive it anywhere. Pump is quiet and will handle a 1000hp in a carb setup. You can tap off that regulator and go directly to the nos system. I would put a holley blue pump regulator inline before the nos solenoid so you can cantrol that fuel pressure independent of the motor. You need a larger pump like this to run e85 as it requires about 30% more fuel than gasoline.
