Default Pullin' the trigger, finally

Ready to put my motor together for the el camino's first race

Here's the issue, it's in 4 weeks, and I need to tune/prerun =0

If you can help me locate any of the following items plz PM me

MSD 6010 - (pretty sure, I still gotta double ck the #s, will do tmrw)
Vic Jr, (maybe a spacer if it fits)
8Coils, & 1 spark plug wire
decent fuel pump
fuel safe 25+ gal.
770 Holley offroad carb
starter
flexplate/spacer for t400
decent T.C. maybe 2000-2200 stall, (stock cammed for now)

Throwing this thing together quick and on a budget, which almost never works out. BUt hell, I gotta try.

oh yeah and its a 24 hr endurance race, offroad.

a couple pics of the car.
I know it does't look done, that bcuz it isn't, still gotta bust out rear suspension and finish a few chassis tubes, remove stock frame, blah blah blah.

Total newb question cause I gotta run and don't have time to search more.

I was looking for the thread that breaks down the engines that go w/ 6010 and what to use the 6012 on

mine is a 99 LS1 out of a camaro I'm pretty sure, but not trusting the sellers word (or my memory) enough to chance it.

Thanks for the help!

you need a 6010 for that motor. I have a new spacer and crank adapter for 225.00 shipped. Sfi

yep. didn't give up, just have a bunch more molds to make before I go into layup mode. (limited space) and I'm attempting to make this race so Im just putting together a solid bolt-on baseline setup.

finally got the vic jr, and 6010 in the mail. it's like christmas. thanks hifi875!!! <very helpful and great to do biz with.

So here's a few questions I have after mocking things up today, please excuse my lack of LS knowledge temporarily, this is my first LS combo.

Carb-I have an old, holley 650 dp, any suggestions on a baseline setup for jets and settings? I'm trying to just get a nice DD setup going initially to stabilize the combo, then I will be stepping up to a 770 or so.

Alt- I have an alt for an Fbody I believe, it's newer anyway, should I use that with the 6010 or go with an older style one to simplify wiring for this setup.
regardless I will be making brackets so not worried about those

Starter-using t400 trans. if that even matters - do I need a starter for an LS1 or can I fab some mounts for an older style starter? and is the LS starter smaller or lighter?

waterpump-I'm running a huge radiator in the back of the cab, will an LS waterpump do it for hours on end running hard?
I'm considering either an offboard elecric marine waterpump or maybe an aftermarket LS unit (but thats not budget) I'm not sure if they would do it either.

Do I need to think about upgraded oil system stuff? clueless on that... but willing to do research if I know what I'm looking for.

anyhow I'm new to endurance racing with V8s so I need some schooling bad.

Thanks in advance!

Alt- use what ever will do the job
Starter- ls starter
WP- are you able to fab up adapts to put on block and then run a remote pump That's along ways to move water on a stock pump

thanks z28
I thought the same thing about the wp. thats why Im asking

anyone know of a decent WP for something like this? I'm already fabbing tensioners so that would be no biggie.
The only issue is packaging with the front chassis design I have going. if I have to I can even change that, but not for long so I gotta get my engine pkg figured out soon.

Should I be considering an oil cooler or pan with larger capacity? - I can make that as well so I just need to know how many c.i. or how many quarts it should hold.
I would rather have a steel part on the bottom of the motor anyway for what I'm doing. (easier/quicker to repair and the more in-house parts the better)
