4th gen throttle cable problems
So went to install the throttle cable today. Everything was going reall smooth. HAve a nice Lokar style throttle cable bracket with return spring with a matching throttle cable with nice adjustment abilities. Ran into a problem when I realized the gas pedal travels almost twice as far as the carb linkage does. This is with the gas pedal all the way up until the pedal shaft stops on the firewall bracket then as far as the pedal will go down without any carpet or anything in the way.
I understand I can adjust it so the pedal comes "up" only so far. Problem is, this is a road race car and with the pedal that far towards the floor it's going to be extremely hard to heal toe. I was thinking of welding a bracket half way up the upper pivot point of the gas pedal shaft and mounting a clevis pin. Giving me a batter mechanical advantage so the cable won't move as far in relation to pedal travel. Good idea? Will it work? Anyone else run into this problem?
Or did I completely botch up installing something as simple as a throttle cable?

Adjust the pedal height (throttle closed) where you want it using the cable adjusters, and add a throttle stop bolt between the pedal and floor to prevent over-travel damage to the carb/linkage.
