Default new to LS...is carb the way to go on conversion drag car?

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, been using search and stickies, but hard from my phone.

I want to go LS in my Buick Regal. Was thinking of a Turbo 5.3, but just looks too expensive right now. I haven't bought an engine yet so I'm open to 5.7 and 6.0 as well.

Big ?'s:
1) If I use the MSD 6010, do I still have to have a harness and PCM from the donor vehicle? I only need water pump, alternator, and PS for accessories.

I'll be running a turbo 350 trans with a brake and can get whatever stall I need. I run 1/8 mile 90% of the time. I'd like to run on pump gas. My goal is 6.80's ...car weighs 3500 with driver. Is this possible?

TIA

The LQ4 6.0 has about 9.5:1 compression which might interest you for a turbo option.
If you have the 6010 (and harness) then you don't need a PCM or other wiring for the ignition.
You may want to browse in the 10 second forum and see if those guys are doing it on pump gas. I am thinking "yes"...but that is just my optimism because of these amazing motors.

Yes a carb is a way easier conversion and is great for a drag racing setup. EFI is nice for a DD but isnt required. A heads and cam lq4 6.0 should get you to your desired time easy enough.

Does the MSD 6010 come with the harness?

Yes.

Depending on your budget, if you look for an 07 or newer 6.0 you can get one with L92 heads on it stock then you will be ahead of the game and likely start off with a much lower mileage unit. They can be had all day complete for under 2k then you can sell the intake and harness etc. to recover some cost. The carb intake is under $300 also.
