Fuel pump recommendation
I am putting together a carbed 6.0. Running the edelbrock intake manifold with a 750 Speed Demon carb, thunder racing TR230/236 cam. Wondering what fuel pump people have been running with the carbed LS's?

Have a Mallory Comp 140 now. I also ran a generic Summit 140 gph pump. 140 gph is actually too much pump for my stock cam LS2. All it does is circulate excess fuel making noise in the process. With your motor you could easily get by with 100 gph or even less. Summit has there pumps on sale right now. You can get a 95 gph model for $71 bucks.
I'm running 3/8 inch supply and return with a return style regulator.

This seems to be a popular question. There are 2 more threads in the past couple of weeks. I would go with the Carter rotary pump (quiet, dependable and no need for a regulator). I have run one on a 6.0 S10 running low 11's 120+ MPH with only 3/8" line. A link to the pump is in the other threads. However if you plan on spraying your needs would be different.

Another Aeromotive SS pump here. I've had bad luck with the Mallory 140, but it might just be me. Of course I did set the last one on fire cause I was a wee bit upset with it. (work your butt off for two days with minimal sleep trying to get your new swap to fire...only to have a dead pump...again!)

nice lol...Ive resisted the urge to set my entire car on fire...a few times.
I along with a few friends have all had good luck with the aeromotive pumps, from carb to efi.

I did have to get the Mallory rebuilt after running it a couple dozen hours due to some debris getting sucked through the pump. I was running a prefilter but somehow some crap got in there. The gerotor designs are very sensitive to debris. FWIW the $85 Summit rotary vane pump I replaced it with while getting the Mallory rebuilt was a direct bolt in and seemed to work just as well. I also got the tank cleaned and sealed and added a few hundred dollars of improved filters when I rebuilt the pump, so who knows what was the pumps fault and what was mine.

Carter Pumps?
I have been researching quite a bit in preparation of my LS swap. I came across a very similar thread on Steve's Nova Site. Many of the guys over there seemed to have used the Carter Rotary pumps with success. Like the one below:

Any input positive or negative??

Really? Any perticular reason for the edelbrock failure that you know of speedtigger? I have always heard that it was a pretty good pump. I have also been on the hunt for a quiet pump and was considdering the edelbrock. Eric L

I took the Edelbrock pump section apart and saw no signs of damage or wear. I cleaned out the built in regulator and found no signs of debris that could explain the reduced output. I spoke to a couple people who had experienced the same problem, so I tried the Aeromotive SS. Problem solved.

I have been checking out the threads concerning the fuel pumps for the ls swaps...here is my question. I am putting a '01 5.3L in my 1988 monte carlo ss, the stock fuel tank does not have a fuel pump. stock factory 305 monte's came with a mechanical fuel pump with a fuel sender in the tank. can I just add either a inline or a intank fuel pump and still supply good psi to the CARB'ed 5.3L?...will I still need a return line?..tks
