I have a lq4 w 870 Holley, ls3 heads which bring me up to the compression you have now. I saw hot rod magazine had an arcticle where they built a 6.0 w 550 hp and I decided that was good for my first year out. I have a trick flow 595/595 238-114 lobe sep. I have new springs and push rods to match. I was told I will be quite happy, but haven't had the chance to get it running yet. Good luck w your build.

I also meant to inform you, I picked up my heads brand new minus rockers, but otherwise complete for 700$ shipped from the gm performance dealer. Different dealers sell for different prices, check around, if it's price that is causing you to shy from new heads, you won't touch equal flow for the money. Factory flow on intake is 320 cfm.
