Fox all the way. If I could ever finish my monte and put 5.3 in truck it will be next project for sure. Wanted one when I bought Monte but I am in love wit g body. If you get fox down to 2500 it will fly. It will fly at any weight under 3. Chevy in a fox is the best ever

For sure, That that reason for the temptation for a fox.

Los, the third gen is a struggle once you are below 3000 to get them any lighter, they are a better car than a fox, better metal and structure, just more to them.

ZONE do they make fiberglass hoods etc.. for 3rd gen? The fox can get fiberglass hoods, decklid, and now they have the fiberglass doors setup for window regulators and stock mounting brackets. Would a combo similiar to mine put a 2500# fox in nines?

Fox body mustangs make great race cars but everybody and their brother has one. I would go with something else just to be different.

They make everything glass for third gens, but a third gen is just a better built car, heavier metal, so they weigh in at allot more, as well as being a larger ride.

Billy Flantos went 9s in a gutted fox, stock LQ9 i think(could be LQ4?), polluter cam and stock 799s milled .040 if i remember correct.

That is what makes me want to go with a light chassis, just to be quick.

That is the reason i do not want to go that route, but the rears hold, and they aftermarket is stupid available for everything, cheap too.

Hey bud, you gotta let me give that thing a whirl some time. Just wrecked the 89 RS and i will be swapping the 6.0 to the Trans Am with the 4.30 12 bolt, so it will be a bit before i make another camaro with the remaining 6 speed, but i may go your route if i can get the thing light enough.

Im planning on selling all the stuff I have with the car, or parts it all out and sell the car as a rolling chassis.
how much for the roller?

Chevette...now that would be funny, but not going to happen with my requirements, i am determined to find something that i will not have to fab a rear for nor spend 2K for a new rear to swap in.

ive got my 89 gmc s15 almost finished. gotta plug a few holes in the firewall and build my dash and its finished, im shootin for about 2500-2700 lbs and my 6.0 drives very well with the th400 and the bigger stall. im workin on my 8.8 rear swap but i bet i can get one and beef it up for under 1k. im hoping it runs mid to low 6's in the 1/8th na... we will see this summer. the small pickup gets my vote

For the 1/8th the truck will work, for the 1/4, the aerodynamics hold back, but not much. The 8.8 swap i cloud probably do myself since the truck rear from a exploder would be doable.
