Default Vic Jr Intake Leak....

Im having some problems with my Vic Jr and an intake leak.... I used the Felpro Gaskets and torqued down in sequence.... I believe 14ftlbs... The car ran flawless the first time out but now developed an intake leak... Spraying some carb spray around the intake has verified it. I tight the intake down farther without torque wrench but still in sequence (Probly about 18-20 ft lbs now) ad the intake leak was gone for about 2 passes down the track but has started leaking yet again.

Has anyone else had these issues??

I purchased the intake BNIB from Jegs back in January of this year....

They do not use gaskets they use o rings. Hope that is the issue. The super Vic uses gaskets.

I use gaskets but I filled in the o-ring slots on mine because of the porting, but I would think it would seal even if the o-ring slots were not filled.

What thickness paper gasket did you use?

I thought it was 89 inch-lbs (which would be ~ 7 1/2 ft-lbs)...

Either way mine is much tighter than torque spec in an attempt to get it to seal at the track... I think I'm going to switch to the Felpro Composite like gasket. The standard GM OEM oring type gaskets isnt working..

Ordered the felpro 1312-3 Gasket kit and see if it fixes the problem.

Perhaps a o ring is bad?

Maybe the intake cracked along the o-ring hole like some of the early model ones did because it was too thin in that area. Overtightening wasn't the answer, the o-ring should be much thicker than the groove in the intake regardless for a good seal.

I was hoping it would be visual like the one I had on a friends car. You could see it.

pump can be enabled manually with hp tuners but still doesn't fire so pcm is definitely not doing what it should all of a sudden
I think you replied to wrong thread. Probably scrolled down to a related thread after a search.
