Default Help me dial in!!!

I have a Carbureted LS6 that Im trying to get dialed in... I am rather new to the WHOLE engine building thing. Did a swap on my own with a whole lot of research and whole lot of $$$... Now I am trying to get everything dialed in. Any assistance or advice on what to look out for would be greatly appreciated.

Issues I am trying to find solutions to

1) TIMING!!?!
I have an Edelbrock Control Module. Built by MSD, but not able to program.
I have a Comp Cam...
Specs- Lobe Separation 113
Valve lift 617 intake 624 exhaust
Duration @ .050 231 Intake 239 Exhaust

2) Where should power band be? and what would be safe to rev to?
My setup...
LS6
Carb Edlelbrock performer RPM Ls1 manifold
Holley HP 750 carb
AFR 210cc Heads
Doug Thorley headers
and the Cam specs above...

Some peeps might just say to take it to a tuner/ dyno tune it... FUNDS ARE SUPER TIGHT. gotta make due with what I got.

I know its vague and some of you may not even know how to answer... BUT if you have any idea, holla back. Fill me in por favor.

im not sure of the rpm but i think you have to much cam for the timing programs built into the edelbrock box you need the msd box that way timing curve can be set based on the cam you have. i would sell the box and invest in the msd. another suggestion is to go with a fast ez efi its not cheap but the flexability is great and it learns as it goes so as you make add ons you can just plug and play. http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/comp...n=PriceGrabber. and it still looks like a carb set up. i love carbs but even nascar has moved on to a simular set up. so i may be doing the same...

All will agree.

What is your transmission set up and rear gear? Oh and what is your car?

You have come to the wrong forum if you expect to hear the word tuner here. Most carb guys went carb cause they work on their own stuff.

Your ultimate solution may be the MSD box but you should be able to make it run with one you have. Try pill #5 and run a map sensor. That may be a bit much timing on the top end so just listen for detonation and see what happens.

With an LS6 bottom end and I assume good, matching valve springs for that cam you have you want to rev that bitch a bit. I wouldn't hesitate to go to 6700 RPM. Once Zones gets on board I am sure he will tell you higher. That cam with AFR head will have a pretty strong top end, so don't be surprised if it is still pulling hard at red line. With no rev limiter in that eddy box you will need a shift light to keep from over reving it. The red line is going to come up way fast. It would have come up faster with a single plane intake, but the performer should work well with your relatively heavy car.

You should have a fast ride with what you have now.

Help me dial in!!!-malone.jpg

This is her!! My all black dream... Yea I have never taken it past 6300.. And it felt like it was pulling harder at that rpm than at any other speed.

We had the springs in those AFRs matched to the cam.. Did a few other internals too.. it feels fast! just have not really done any dyno runs or Quarter miles yet. But I built that bitch to drive! Imma find out what she can do. Once I get it dialed in of course

I'm not sure if you can run a map sensor with the eddy box, but if so it should def help....sell your box on here and get an msd 6010...but I would try to salvage what you got first and maybe find a cheap solution to the rev limit bc even the best of drivers miss shifts!
