So far I have a Gen IV 5.3L shortblock(stock). I plan to hit it with a 150-200 shot. The truck should weigh around 2600 with driver. My goal is to run high 10's or low 11's on motor and low 10's on spray. The truck will be street driven maybe 10 miles on weekends.
Which intake should I be looking at? I AM going to run a Powerglide, so I know I need some good gearing(3.90's) and a good converter(4500 stall). This is a low budget build so I'm just gonna throw a "off the shelf" cam in there with good springs on the stock 706 heads. Any suggestions on a cam? I was looking at a Lunati grind(227/231 .650 lift, I think). I would like to keep shift RPM around 6600. Do I NEED better heads than the 706's for my goal?

You will want better heads it you want power. The stickers have small valves. Ported 853 or 241 milled would be better. That is allot of lift for stock rockers. The edelbrock 2216 would work well for you. A victor jr is ideal for what you are doing. You are stalling above the use of the torque range of a performer rpm and the nitrous distribution if better. I shifted my gen IV 5.3 at 7200 with a smaller cam. Let it eat.
