Default 5.3 cam recommendation

I'm looking for some ideas on a 5.3 cam. I want a choppy idle, somewhat easy on the valvetrain. I will be running a 3k stall in a 3000lb ranger, 3.73 gear. I was looking at the edelbrock 2215 & 2216 cams, also the Comp thumper cams. Anyone use any of these cams?

Just got my 2215, the 2216 sounds like what you are looking for.

How soon till you install it? I'd like to get your take on how it performs. You think the 2216 won't be to aggressive for the 5.3? I plan on raising compression to 10:1.

No, it will run ok, more converter would make it work great, like a 4000. But it will sound and run awesome. Easy on valve train components. It will not launch like a race car with a 3000 but will still run well.

I still haven't picked up a converter yet, I was just thinking of a 3k, same as rear end, may still go 4.10. I just didn't want to big of a stall converter, to maintain good street manners.

My 4500 acts fine in the street. Don't worry about that. Just make sure you have a good cooling system for the Trans.
