first fire trouble...

fired it once, ran smooth, shut her down to put some starter shims in, now it wont fire back up. back fires and sounds angry. double checked all wires and plugs, double checked connectors, to coils made sure they were right, running chip 1 i need the adapter to hook the laptop up.... grrr... any ideas????

cam and crank sensor are new. plugs were from an efi set up, would that give me trouble???

Custom tune will help I'm sure, but that is wierd.

i think the idle circuit needs to be richened up. moody son of a gun, got it runnin last night went for a lil ride. very impressed.

I can tell you from first hand experience that the whole car growls if it is running too lean at idle. Happened to me when I swapped out the carb base plate. I kept turning the motor off thinking something was major broke or out of balance.

it did make some nasty sounding growls like some one was inside howling down the headers lol!

still plauged with a couple problems. one ive read on here grounding to the fire wall is a no no, so ill ground the msd to the block hopefully that helps. i found it odd that i dont get an rpm on the tach, or the lap top when im trying to fire, are my sensors not working? backfiring thru the carb when away when i turned the air/fuel screws in, but then couldnt get it start at all, then totally killed my battery for the night. couldnt get it started tonight at all. yesterday i had it running, tough to get running but once it starting idling it was fine. idled perfect, didnt have to babysit it, it just ran along perfect. now all i get is a cough here n there or a backfire!!!! carb is kinda leaky so im gonna snug everything down, hasnt ran in a couple year prob needs new gaskets, but still should run something is funny with that msd, new crank sensor, maybe time for a new cam sensor???
