box doesnt come preset with a tune unless you have powered the box with a pill installed then a map is loaded into the memory i started mine on pill 5 or 6 and then did custom later

Yea just use the closest matching timing curve "pill" provided with the box....and to hook it up to laptop you will need to go to radio shack for a "male serial to male USB cable" the linger the better that way you don't have to sit in your engine bay to to tune the MSD box...
Box comes preset with either timing curve #2 or #3, you don't need a pill to start it. It says in the instruction sheet which one. You can pretty much just plug it in and turn the key to start.
Only other caution is either hook up a MAP sensor or go in and manually take out the vac advance timing. Otherwise the box will run with full vac advance all the time.

Just plugged mine in Sunday to test the electrical mods to my 240. Mine came preset with timing and map curves with no pill hooked up and it came with a 6-8 ft serial cable. Also had a preset rev limit on the box of 5500rpm.

Can u get to crank sensor without taking strater off ??? btw..my box has feb 13 on it.it should have the lower cranking rpm set in it ???
