And now they just told me I should put a cage in it before I come to the track. I know it's gunna run faster ham a 7.49 but I don't see why they are pushin me away before I even show up. I don't wanna cage my street truck to run at the track once. Fml.

Yea, they can be sticklers for the battery cut off, but I don't think they can force you to cage the truck till you prove its too fast to run without it.
Sounds like your tech guy is feeling his authority a little too much. The guy at my track didn't even pop my hood when I took the 72 Camaro to the track, and didn't know my battery was in the trunk.

Try another track. Most of the ones here are pretty lax. i went 6.37 with no cage, stock belts and no battery disconnect. But our new local track is even checking belt dates now. I have a cage now too, since I am a little faster than the old days. The 6.37 was the 302 on spray.

This track is the closest to us and its still over a hour away. The next closest is a 3 hour drive and then Minnesota. I wouldn't mind fillin the bottle an gettin a glory run before they kick me but who knows. I should just put a switch in it and make. Run but I hate the idea of wasting money on unnecessary parts that aren't going to be used more than one day lol. Rear end will be done this winter and we will see then. If I switched from my 3.73's to say some 3.08 for better cruising would it really slow my truck down alot from a roll race?

I would look into the actual rule that sates you have to have a cutoff switch for a battery in the bed in the open. Trunk is understandable, but not in an area thats easily accessible. And they cant make do **** about a cage until u go too fast. Even then, all they can do is kick you for the day/night, w/e.

I will check into the rule more but I am pretty sure it stated anytime te battery is relocated you need a switch. And the time thing they said they strongly recommend me looking into a cage/roll bar before I come.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the cutoff switch in my truck is from a forklift. I believe they only cost a few bucks(I traded a $5 carb spacer to a buddy for mine). The wiring to hook it up shouldn't cost much either($50-60).
