Default Hood and Air Cleaner for Carb'd 4th Gen

OK, I have my carb'd 5.3 installed and everything going good in the 98 TransAm . All I really have left is to get a hood that will clear an air cleaner/carb hat. Anyone like to share what worked for their swap? Pics would be great. I also have to decide on what exhaust to use. Right now I have long tubes with the Y pipe ran to the back with two 2 1/2 tail pipes out the back. LOUD set up. Got to have a muffler!

hate to bring this back from the dead but I'm wondering is that a 4 or 6" vfn hood? My cowl is gone too and was looking at the 6" cowl extended to windshield was wondering how the fitment was

I have the 6" extended VFN on a 96 Camaro. Fitment was perfect. I was shocked. All that had to be trimmed was where it met the windshield. And they told me that up front.Taped it and cut it with a hand jig saw. Finished it off with a belt sander. It was a piece of cake. I have a pin on.

Oh yeah by the way. Sitting in the seat it only looks like a 4" because of the way that it is designed. I have a super victor and the top of the carb is 4 1/4 inches from the hood.

This is what it looked like right after I trimmed it.

Awesome man thanks for the info! I am running a vic jr with a Holley HP 750 and a carb hat thats around 3" tall. Looks like everything will clear if you say you have over 4" clearance to the carb. Thanks again for the info/pictures makes me feel better about clearance!
