Tuning question
Tuning question This isnt a LS, but Im at a loss. I dont know if Im over looking something. Here's what going on. I built a 406 SBC gen 1 and its running. Sounds good, no smoking. I decided to pull the plugs just to look at them amd the outer 4 cylinder are running rich. They dark and dry, not wet. the inner 4 plugs are grayish. Look right, but the outers look rick. What do you guys think is going on?
I'm assuming you've tuned the idle screws in for the new motor. Does the carb have 4 corner idle?
It might want a little more initial timing.
If your A/F (or vacuum gauge if you set it up the old-timey way) looks good, and if they're not dripping wet or fouled I wouldn't worry about it until you can run it around a little bit.
