when I did your zip I showed it but I couldn't get the price..
well good luck, I would call, this one is much easier.. I chased my tail for way to long the other route, I would use a oriley alt before going back..

I like this way. Just like the old true one wire hook ups.

it was a bit more money but is also a bigger alt and most importantly it works.. so far..
When you say newer trucks are you talking 2010 and later?

Mine is just the original 2001 GMC Yukon alternator. I was wanting to know how to set it up since I am going carb and the computer won't be there to control it anymore.

NAPA cant even find it on their computer. I was talking to the guy on the phone looking at it on the screen and he made me feel crazy.

dezl, you are COMPLETELY missing what our point is...

YOU CAN SEE IT IN YOUR REGION, WE CANT!!!

And you guys have TWO DIFFERENT alternators posted up in those two threads.

one is a 145 amp alternator and one is a 160 amp alternator.

the EXACT RESPONSE I get is this for your 66440 alternator: Item not available at this store, please contact any NAPA store for assistance in locating the item.

now the 2134828 alternator is a 160 amp and it shows available for $159 plus core and tax

Man, that is a really good write up. Lots of good material all in one place, I'm going to book mark that for later use.

The computer really doesn't have anything to do with the alternator. Hook up a couple of wires like described in that article and you are good to go. I wired up a denso alternator using a similar description.

I don't understand why people like one wire alternators so much. Seemed a simple task to run a couple of extra wires. But I guess if it works, why not?

That was alot of good reading. Here is all I remember from the whole thing though.

"The next time some long-haired, sandle-wearing, tree-hugging, peace-loving, soap-dodging, Prius driver looks over at your truck with it's massive array of off-road lights, pumping stereo, and 15,000 lb winch and gives you that supercilious, holier-than-thou sneer that they seem to be so expert at (it must be explained in the Prius owner's manual / book of hypocrisy) - feel free to explain to them that your rig is entirely solar powered."

I recommend using small words and speaking slowly as if conversing with a small and rather dim-witted child.

But you will be telling them the truth. You see, the fact is, EVERYTHING on this earth is solar powered. ALL our energy has always come, and will always come, from the sun. Everything we power ultimately derives its energy from the sun - even your Big Block. You see, many millions of years ago the sun's rays shone down on the earth - making plants grow. Animals (dinosaurs) ate those plants. The plants and animals died, fell down, and over a long, long time got squished into oil. A few million years later some guy from Texas drills into the ground, extracts the oil, refines it into gasoline and you put the gasoline in your truck and it goes Vroom Vroom. Presto! - solar powered Big Block!
